With the last of Odessa's West Texas rivals moving down to junior hockey, you have to wonder how long until the jacks throw in the towel? I like having local hockey, I can't get into it on TV. I just have to worry; how long can a struggling franchise last with all its close rivals either folded or moved to junior hockey. Next year our closest Rival will be Austin 300 miles away followed by a DFW team and then Albuquerque. The
last days approach the Jacks. Doom is over the horizon, REPENT, REPENT JACKS FANS, REPENT.

Austin is going to fold after this season. There getting a new AHL team next year and the Ice Bats aren't going to try to compete after what happened to the Igies.

we have a ECHL team, the wildcatters www.wildcattershockey.com. a farm team for the houston aeros and the minnesota wild, one down from AHL. they have some really good talent come through. playoffs last year and league record winning streak this year, but not alot of people have taken to it, so their future is unknown. kinda sucks its the only alternative to football or basketball, other than baseball(which I hate), to go out and see

Yea were a step bellow AHL also. The Jacks have been doing pretty good this year. They've already got there playoff spot tied up, but were still dead last in attendants.
I'm not sure if your interested since you said hockey was a alternative to football, or already know, but Beaumont has a Indoor Football team called the Drillers. They might move up to the same league as the Odessa team next year.

You should go check it out sometime. I think it's alot more fun to watch then normall football, espisially when your there in person. Pretty cheap just 10 bucks.

I've heard CHL, but that might just be wishful thinking by CHL fans.
