I was wondering how I can tell what power supply is right for a computer im going to build sometime late summer.
What do I have to take into account to choose the right power supply.
Im just wondering

I'm no computer expert, but I think you just need to find out how much current you need and pick you one out that will out put enough current for you. SK has built several computers, he will know what you need or someone else will.

I have 2 sata hard drives, 1 sata dvd burner, 8600GT vid card, 3 80 mm fans, 1 92 mm fan with 400 watt power supply. You can't go wrong witha 500 watt. It will only use the wattage it needs to run, in other words if your comp uses 200 watts thats all it will produce and not have a high electric bill. If you need more than 500 see Tompies post.

That's 846 million watts and is warranted until 2034. It'll set you back about $449,999,999.99

No problem. My next one will be 600 watts. They claim that if you load it up too much, even under what its rated at, the power supply will burn up quicker. I don't believe that. The government spent over 1 million dollars on my electronics training, and they didnt tell me that, lol. It's like an alternator on a car, it will put out what it needs to, not its max power all the time, ignition coils too. Hey maybe I should hold a car repair show on ts every Saturday morning and answer questions about cars. Tompie can you promote it for me? jk

He cannot answer questions outside of the show. You'll just have to ask him on our pilot episode, details will be posted later.

Even before the fire you couldn't fix it, it's a ford. 10 bucks says that's a result from the cruise control cutoff switch.

i just recently bought 650W BFG power supply, with dual PCI express connectors. It can power just about any system you build including one with SLI or Crossfire. They have it in 650W,800W,and 1000W variances, but really 650-800W will supply plenty of power to just about any system. Check 'em out
