The second rifle is vary similar except it is .223 cal. The army uses the same make Remington. The actual nomenclature is M24 SWS. The M24 is a .308 cal. It also has a modified stock and a heavy barrel. The army has numerous scopes they mount the issue scope is a Leupold Mark IV 3.5x10 with Mil Dot reticule. The first rifle pictured is a customized version of the M24. It matches the M24 in every aspect except the stock. I prefer a laminate stock with a beaver tail for more control and its much more robust to abuse. The modern composite stocks wont take much abuse and don't have the look that fine wood brings to rifle. Just my view. The 1st rifle cost about $3200 to build. The scope actually cost twice as much as the rifle. The second rifle you can build under $1500. I love to shoot and I use to compete in the Army service match competitions. The Marines were the only competition thou. Occasionally we got to compete against SWAT or SERT units with police departments. A few civilians competed as well but they prefer the older M-1 gar rands from World War II. They would shoot in a class all there own. My son (Mudd-Mutt) has a nice small caliber rifle from savage. Its shots a round smaller than a 22cal. The round is called HMR .17 cal. He has had some work done to it as well.

I have been thinking about getting me a mini AR15, I would like to have a good long range rifle and do more shooting as a hoby. As seen in my pic. I have a AK with 30 round clips but I also have alot of other guns. My fav. one to shoot at the moment is my 357 CIG, it has a 40 cal. caseing pushing a 357 round. For a hand gun its fun to shoot

I recently updated my weapon collection and went down range with Mutt. It wasnt a good day for the Mutt, But Dirt rocked the range... I re-zeroed my remington 308 after changing the stock and bedding the action. I placed 5 rounds inside an inch at 100 yards. The new stock with an aluminum bedding block was worth the money. It definately looks really nice as well. It's called a Ghost laminate stock. They take Oak wood in grey and brown and they are layered together and manchine an aluminum block inside to bed the action. Good stuff!
