This is a picture of Dirt and I's shooting competition today. Rules were simple: 31 wins, 5 rounds maximum. smallest number of rounds wins. The ones marked in Red are mine, totaling 93 with my new .308; shooting military 168 grain bo-tail. The ones marked in Blue are Dirt's, totalling... 5... with his .223; shooting some pretty expensive federal stuff. And the small portion at the button is an instant 31 points... I went first and got 31 in three shots; Dirt went to beat me and ended up missing it three times.

Once it was all over, I went for it, and hit it with my last two rounds. The distance is aproximately 65 yards. Gonna have to post more of these competitions; next week will probably be me vs him, at 100 yards using both of our .308's and 168 grain bo-tails.

Our new 800 yard defense is excellent... but it appears to depend upon me pulling the trigger, and him being the spotter... We'll see, I'll post next weeks competition, probably with me getting a taste of my own medicine... doubt it, but oh well!

So I guess that you were trying to "Ruin" that ram. He'll feel it later tonight, hint hint. I don't think that is an important shot, he has to make baby rams. He'll probably jump off the cliff now!

Alright, I'll play nice, lol. Next week will be better, we'll post human paper targets hopefully at about 100 yards. We'll both be shooting 168 grain .308 rounds... Except it will be my Savage versus his remington.

Oh yes Mudd has temporary Rights to tute his horn. The facts are just a little foggy. I wasnt shooting any federal ammo (Exspensive stuff) out of the .223 either. As a matter of fact it was hornandy 55 grain V-Max. The Mudd had hand reloads we built the night before on the reload press. But he failed to mention that I see. So yes a real shoot off is up and coming with our .308's.

Remington VLS = Dirts weapon of choice.
Savage 12FV = Mudd's weapon of choice.

It's all good thou. The range of our target will move out to 100 maybe 200 yards. Well see what Mudd can zero that new toy in on. Then will go for it...

Great shooting thou Mudd:):):):)

This weekend we went again but with a professional photographer. It was a square off between my Savage .308 (OD green) and Dirt Dog's Remington (Wood). We were both shooting 168 grain BTHP rounds, but mine were hand reloaded and his were federal ammunition.

I won 3/4 competitions: the first was a 12 gauge shotgun shell at about 50 yards. I let dirt go first, but his shot too high; I smacked it at an angle, piercing straight through. Second competition was a golf ball at aproximately 75 yards, which I tore to shreds with a breautifully placed .308 round. The third competition we played a printout pool, in which I tore up two solids then missed my third shot. Dirt tore up his first two targets, but his third shot slammed the eightball. We dont have a picture cause we was too lazy... dirt didn't want to post proof :P

Dirtdog won the last competition, in which we placed the same golfball on a post at 200 yards. He won by accident, my first shot going just over it and his shot hitting the top of the pole. It had enough force to send the ball soaring into the air, a great scene to watch.

Now I agree shootin was good that day. But some of these photos are suspect to verifyable independent evaluations. Especially the hand/finger jesture photos. Hmm Mudd you are on notice and the pain will hurt for some time to come. I got a garage that needs cleaning, including the grease spots on the drive way. The yard is in need of some serious attention and the list goes on... I dont believe in grounding when I got so much that needs to be done to channel all that extra energy!

Lead, Follow, or get of the way!

This Sunday the 25th of November we go down range to anti up again.

Mudd's rifle is a Savage 12V .308 Heavy barrel with a after market choate stock. His Scope is a 4x10 x 40mm with mildot reticle from Nikon, attached Harris bipod, with buttler creek lens caps.

Dirt's Rifle is a Remington 700 BDL, VLS .308 Heavy barrel. Scope is a Mark 4 3.5x10 X 50mm with Mildot reticle, M1 turrets, from Leupold, attached Harris bipod, with Buttler creek lens caps.

We reload are own .308 with 168 grain Boat Tail hollow point match ammo from hornady.
Much cheaper and more accuarte than over the counter ammo. we reload for about $.37 a round. To buy this same ammo cost ya about $21 to $23 for twenty rounds. Mudds shoots better with 45 grains of powder for his savage. I get better accuracy from 42 grains of powder for my remington. Booth of these rifles are capable of less than 1" MOA at 100 yds. We get some more rounds done these barrels and they will improve even more after break in.

Damage, Id sure like to shoot that M14 some... Excellent field rifle with great power and accuracy, The Army has recently taken them back into inventory for urban snipeing operations. The Navy Seals, SF and Delta Force still use this weapon today with some improvements. Excellent shooter...

Ok so Dirt and Mudd head down range. We set up on the 100 yard first to verify zeros. Weather: Drizzly and Temp's in the mid 50's with some 25 mph gust. "Good shootin Weather"

So now the cream will rise to the top because there aint no sun shine, its wet, cold and windy.

The following targets are of the shoot off we had.

1st photo Dirts zero 100 yds, 3 shot group inside 3/4".
2nd Dirts run on target.
3rd Mudds run on target.

So now we know Mudd is a Fair Weather Puppy...

lol, yea it was interesting trying to learn how to compensate for the drizzles and the wind; my shots were going every which direction, but atleast I still hit my mark. Shoula scanned that p-dog picture, the poor thing was wasted from waist up with .308 rounds.

I enjoy shooting in the nice sunny, no wind, hot temperature weather cause that's what I'm used to. But I have to learn how to shoot in environments not to my choosing at times of intense sleep deprivation among other things... if I do join the Army Snipers.

Dirt earns the bragging rights on this one, his accuracy was impressive!
